Whether you’re a parent, student, grassroots organizer, or community leader, we will guide you to make lasting change in your community.

Since 1998, Shanell, our founder and CEO, has been a bold fighter for community restoration and education equality. Prior to Roots & Bridges, she served as Newark City Deputy Director for the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) and Director of Community Outreach for the New Jersey Chapter of Democrats for Education Reform Now. Her extensive experience has solidified her as one of Newark's top advocacy trainers.

Roots & Bridges workshops are designed to empower and educate community members on best practices towards education equity and progressiveness. Our workshops can be broken up into a one day session or 4-6 week courses.
